On August 2, 2025, the riverside revealed another chapter in the ongoing story of survival and instinct.
For the 6th day in a row, the シf6 ducklings were left alone as their mother flew away. Despite the repeated “abandonment,” the tiny babies stayed calm and patiently waited for her return, showing remarkable resilience.
🪿 シf6 (15 days old)
-
シf6-15 ducklings were found alone once again—six days of consecutive “leave-them-and-go” behavior by their mother.
-
While waiting, they responded with calls when アf3 approached, showing awareness of other ducks nearby.
-
Even as crows fought nearby, they stayed still, briefly freezing and calling once, but remaining composed.
-
After a long wait, the mother finally flew back! The ducklings reacted but didn’t rush to her, instead staying calm as she returned to the nest.
🪿 キf3 (22 days old)
-
キf3-22 family was first seen in the child-rearing area. Recently, they have been moving between the upper and lower dam areas more frequently.
-
One duckling boldly crossed to the opposite bank on its own, ignoring other ducks, while the mother followed behind.
-
Later, the mother displayed a familiar “about to fly” behavior—and indeed flew off, leaving the ducklings for around 15 minutes. They waited quietly until she returned from the rice fields.
-
After reuniting, the family suddenly swam downstream together in a coordinated movement, showing their growing unity.
🪿 アf3 (45 days old)
-
アf3-45 moved close to the シf6 area, causing the young シf ducklings to call more actively.
-
Later, アf3 briefly approached the キf3 family before suddenly retreating across the river, possibly due to another duck hiding in the reeds.
🪿 Other Families
-
Tf8: Seen at their usual resting spot with the mother and 5 ducklings confirmed, though not all 8 were together.
-
A large group of moulting ducks was observed, making parentage harder to identify.
Today marked the 6th consecutive day of witnessing シf6’s mother leave her ducklings. Despite human worries, the ducklings continue to survive and adapt.
キf3’s growing independence and アf3’s movement into the child-rearing zone made this a dynamic observation day.
