On August 1, 2025, the river revealed an extraordinary drama of survival and instinct.
A mother duck repeatedly left her ducklings behind—three times in a row. After waiting over an hour, the tiny ducklings finally lost patience and rushed to another duck family, mistaking the wrong mother in a rare and heart-pounding moment.
🪿 シf6 (14 days old)
-
シf6-14 ducklings began their nap sweetly, but as expected, their mother—famous for frequent absences—flew off again.
-
The ducklings stayed calm, refusing to follow, showing they are slowly learning to wait.
-
Even as a young stray duck approached, they remained composed, proving they could distinguish “not mom.”
-
After about 1.5 hours of waiting, the ducklings finally couldn’t hold back. One moved first, and the others followed, bravely crossing the rapids.
-
At the other side, they encountered Tf8’s mother and in a once-in-a-season moment, dashed toward her by mistake, thinking she was their own.
-
The real mother soon returned, chased away the young Tf ducks, and reunited with her babies in an emotional scene.
🪿 Tf8 (56 days old)
-
Tf8-56 family was seen lounging lazily. Six ducklings confirmed, one left early, seven at most visible. For days, they have not all gathered—perhaps one already independent.
-
In a rare reverse scene, the Tf mother accidentally left one duckling behind while departing. The lone duckling calmly stayed instead of panicking, showing their growth.
🪿 アf3 (44 days old)
-
Surprise encounter: アf3-44 appeared moving down into the breeding area!
-
Initially mistaken identity due to overlapping territories. A nearby adult duck was tolerated close to the family, showing relaxed behavior compared to early days.
🪿 Other Families
-
Lf4-64 still with three ducklings.
-
Cf-81 confirmed with two ducklings; once three until day 60, the last pair still stays together.
-
Several moulting ducks observed, difficult to identify parentage.
This day highlighted the シf6 ducklings’ resilience—just 2 weeks old, enduring over 1.5 hours without their mother and showing both patience and instinct.
The rare moment of rushing to the wrong mother underscored the complexity of duck family dynamics in the wild.
