In today’s footage from July 17, 2025, we witness one of the most puzzling and unforgettable duckling behaviors: ducklings deliberately entering a stream of rushing water—like a waterfall—as their mother duck seemingly gives up and takes a nap nearby. This is Duck Family 0717F, a powerful display of courage, confusion, and nature's unpredictability.
🦆 Duck Family Highlights:
1. Ka Family (Ka-f1, 17 days old):
Found safe and well. The duckling was often hiding in the bushes while the mother seemed distressed when it wouldn’t come out.
2. Ke Family (Ke-f2, 6 days old):
A dramatic relocation attempt takes a bizarre turn. The mother duck waits atop a small water gate, while the ducklings, seemingly boycotting the move, remain below. Eventually, one duckling preys on a dragonfly, and later the mother and ducklings reunite.
Then it happens:

The ducklings start playing and bathing in the water spray.

One duckling leads the way and voluntarily steps into the falling water.

The mother, instead of intervening, sleeps!

The ducklings continue their “waterfall training” as if it were a game, dashing into the water stream again and again.
It was a surreal and rare sight—like duckling zen practice under a waterfall!
🐥 Other Duck Families:
Of-f2 (46 days old):
Seen atop the weir; the mother duck was protective and even drove off other ducks.
Tf-f8 (41 days old):
All 8 ducklings confirmed present. Despite past conflicts, this family was seen napping peacefully near the Of-f2 family—an unexpected harmony.
If-f4 (45 days old):
Identified based on sleeping location and plumage. These mallard hybrids shared resting areas with other groups and were involved in brief skirmishes.
Cf-f3 (66 days old):
Three independent ducklings, likely Cf siblings. No mother was seen.
Lf-f4 (49 days old):
Spotted preparing to depart. Observed in a calm, relaxed mood.

Sparrow family: Parents collecting feathers for a possible second nest.

Kingfisher: Seen among strong winds, later from another angle.

Heron: Standing tall in the middle of swaying rice plants.
Despite the intense search, several young families spotted the day before (Ki-f, Ko-f, Ku-f) were not found. It’s likely they had moved upstream or were hidden in thick foliage.
And just when we thought we’d seen it all—ducklings lining up to receive “waterfall splashes” while the mother duck naps. Nature always surprises.

🦆 主な親子の記録
1. カf1（生後17日）：
茂みに隠れがちだったヒナを無事確認。出てこないヒナに母カモが困っている様子も。
2. ケf2（生後6日）：
水門上にいた母カモは、無謀な引っ越しを試みている様子。しかし、ヒナたちはついて行かずボイコット!?
その後、ヒナの1羽がトンボを捕食する場面もあり、ようやく母子が合流。
そして、驚きの行動が…

ヒナたちは滝に打たれながら、まるで修行のように繰り返し突入！
思わず「何してるの!?」と声が出る、珍しくて芸術的な光景でした。
🐥 他の親子の様子
Of2（生後46日）：
堰上に登っているのを確認。母カモが他のカモを威嚇する場面も。
Tf8（生後41日）：
8羽全員確認。過去に喧嘩していたOf2と仲良く一緒に昼寝していて驚き。
イf4（生後45日）：
前日同様の場所でお昼寝していた4羽の雛。顔つきなどからマルガモ系だと判明。
Cf3（生後66日）：
母カモは不在。独立した3羽の若カモ兄弟が確認されました。
Lf4（生後49日）：
まったりとした様子で、出発準備をしているようでした。
🐦 その他の観察

スズメの親子： カモの羽を集めて巣材に。2度目の子育ての準備？

カワセミ： 強風の中でも観察。後に別の角度からも登場。

アオサギ： 風に揺れる稲の中で確認。
前日見つけた幼い親子たち（キf、コf、クf）は今回は確認できず。滝行をするケfの雛たちは、見ていて何とも不思議でした。まるでサザナミインコが水道で水浴びするような光景。自然の行動とは思えない、珍しい一日でした。
