Today was full of drama and learning moments for the ducklings!
From a chick accidentally falling after being startled by a dove, to improved “slide” skills down the weir, we witnessed all sorts of growth, surprises, and family dynamics.

✅ Pf2 (36 days old): Foggy Lens Frustration

  • Started filming just as a chick went down the slide—but the lens fogged up!

  • Managed to record the mother’s unique white speckled plumage for ID, but need to try again for clearer shots.

  • Df5 was resting without its mother nearby.

  • A male hybrid duck, probably Uf Father, was seen solo again.

  • Resting at their favorite spot on the weir.

  • Sadly disrupted by a human feeding ducks, leading to scuffles with other ducks. Feeding was stopped quickly, but caused stress.

  • Surprise Fall: A dove startled the chicks, causing one to fall off the weir!
    The mother immediately checked on it, showing protective behavior.

  • Improved Slide Skills: One chick cleverly waited below as the mother returned. Slides down the weir were smoother and smarter than before!

💭 Observer’s Reflections

Today was packed with surprises and precious learning.

Ef6’s mother showed incredible patience despite human feeding disruptions, other ducks interrupting, and her own chicks getting separated.

Seeing the chicks master the weir slide and reuniting despite chaos was truly heartwarming.

It was also rewarding to see multiple families sharing space without big fights, even with occasional scuffles.

Despite foggy lenses, startled doves, and my own exhaustion from filming non-stop, it was a day full of real, raw wildlife drama—exactly why I keep watching these families.

  • 予想外の落下：キジバトが飛来し、ヒナがビックリして落下。母カモはすぐに警戒して見守る。

💭 観察者の想い

今日はエf6親子中心に、予想外の落下やはぐれ救出など、ドラマ満載でした。
餌付けで荒れたのは残念でしたが、その後母カモと他カモが落ち着いて馴染む様子も意外でした。

Ff6とGf7、Cf3とDf捨4など、他の親子との接近も喧嘩なく平和だったのが嬉しかったです。
レンズの曇りや疲れはあったけど、たくさんの親子を観察できて幸せな一日でした。
