“Duck Family 0704F 🦆 Can Ducklings Master the Steps? Adorable Left-Behind Chicks and Dramatic River Adventures”

Today, the ducklings gave us a masterclass in learning and growing as they tackled the challenge of climbing river steps! Sf9, Xf5, and E f6 families all showed determined, adorable efforts to master the terrain.

We also saw the quiet drama of ducklings left behind while their mother wandered, and even mysterious interactions between mother ducks. Though older families were harder to spot, the day was filled with delightful and sometimes bittersweet scenes of these brave little ones navigating their world.

🦆 Observations by Family

✅ Sf9 (28 days old): Mastering the Steps

  • Spotted from a distance napping—confirmed 9 ducklings.

  • After waking, they boldly went down a slope, then turned and climbed back up!

  • Watching them practice going up and down steps was a wonderful sign of their learning and growth.

  • The background hum of cicadas added to the sense of summer arriving.

✅ Moorhen Family (about 45 days): Juvenile Growth

  • At the pond, spotted a parent and older chicks.

  • The black chicks are turning pale as they mature.

  • Observed solo walks and lively calling in the bushes—a rare glimpse of their family interactions.

✅ Ef6 (10 days old): Secret Base and Left-Behind Moments

  • Found them in a “secret base” with even the mother inside—a first-time sighting!

  • But mother duck sometimes departed without the ducklings following, or attempted to rest on land only to fail.

  • Ef6's behavior today was hard to predict.

  • These "left behind" moments are both heartwarming and slightly worrying—especially since this mother seems prone to leaving them.

✅ Xf5 (24 days old): Struggling with the Slide

  • Adorable efforts as ducklings tried to climb a slope like a playground slide.

  • Also mimicked mother’s bathing but quit quickly—very cute.

✅ Df Mother and Ef Mother: Mysterious Encounter

  • A rare scene: Df mother approached Ef mother, leaving her own ducklings behind.

  • Both mothers flew off in a strange chase, possibly with a mystery male (Df father?) involved.

  • A moment that invites many questions about duck social dynamics.

✅ Gf7 (48 days old): Sleeping All Day

  • Even when approached by other families, this older group stayed fast asleep.

  • The contrast in size between Gf7 and younger ducklings was striking—a reminder of how quickly they grow.

✅ Df5 (around 48 days): Split and Reunion

  • Two mystery ducklings swam alone calling out, while three others stayed resting.

  • Eventually, the three dashed over and reunited, confirming this was Df5.

  • Their mother was missing at the time, making for a “double abandonment” worry.

✅ Kingfisher and Rock Dove: Calming Waterside Scenes

  • Spotted the stylish, “cool-haired” male kingfisher again.

  • Also watched a rock dove’s delightfully fluffy half-body bath in the shallows.

✅ Tf8 (28 days): New Nap Spot Downstream

  • Spotted moving further downstream lately.

  • Captured them landing to rest—though only 7 of the 8 ducklings were clearly visible.

✅ Df 捨4 (48 days): All Present and Safe

  • Finally confirmed the abandoned group Df 捨4 was safe and together.

💭 Observer’s Thoughts

Today was all about younger ducklings and their lively, unpredictable behavior. Watching them figure out how to climb and descend steps was inspiring.

The moments of mothers leaving ducklings behind, or ducklings calling out for their absent parent, added bittersweet layers.

Older groups were elusive today, leaving us to focus on the tiny, determined ones. Seeing Gf7 sleep beside these small ducklings really highlighted their growth.

今日はカルガモのヒナたちが「段差を乗り越える」成長をたっぷり見せてくれました。
Sf9、Xf5、エf6など幼いグループが、何度も挑戦しながら段差を登り下りする姿は、本当に愛らしく、たくましさも感じます。

一方で、母カモが離れてヒナたちが「置き去り」になる時間や、母同士の謎の接近・追跡劇も見られ、彼らの世界の奥深さを改めて実感しました。
後半は大きな家族たちがほとんど見つからず、幼いヒナ中心の観察になりましたが、その分、小ささや可愛らしさを存分に感じることができました。

🦆 親子ごとの観察まとめ

✅ Sf9（生後28日目）：段差の上り下りをマスター！

  • 遠目でお昼寝する9羽を確認。

  • 起きた後は勢いよく段差を降り、Uターンしてまた登る姿を観察。

  • こうやって覚えていく成長が見られて感動しました。

  • 背景ではニイニイゼミの声も響き、夏の訪れを感じる時間でした。

✅ バン親子（生後45日目くらい）：幼鳥の成長

  • 池で遭遇した親子。

  • 黒かった幼鳥が白っぽく変化し、親子らしい行動も確認。

  • 茂みの中での鳴き声など、普段は見られない場面も。

✅ エf6（生後10日目）：秘密基地と置き去り

  • 「秘密基地」に母も入る珍しい光景を初めて記録。

  • しかし、母が出発してもヒナたちがついてこなかったり、上陸を試みても失敗したりと予測不能。

  • 置き去りが多い母なのかもしれず、ちょっと心配だけど、無邪気に待つ姿は可愛すぎました。

✅ Xf5（生後24日目）：滑り台のような段差に挑戦

  • 懸命に段差を登ろうとする姿が微笑ましい。

  • 母の水浴びを真似してすぐ終わってしまうのも可愛いポイント。

✅ Df母とエf母の謎の駆け引き

  • Df母がエf母に近づき、自分のヒナから離れて滞在。

  • その後、エf母が飛び去るとDf母も追いかけ、謎のオス（Df父？）も絡むかもという複雑な動き。

✅ Gf7（生後48日目）：ずっとお昼寝

  • 他の親子が近づいても爆睡。

  • 幼いヒナと並べてサイズの差を実感。

✅ Df5（生後48日目前後）：分裂と合流

  • 2羽だけ泳いで鳴いている子と、寝ていた3羽が合流せず謎の時間。

  • 最後はダッシュで合流して「Df5だ！」と判明。

  • ただ母カモは不在で、二重置き去り状態のようで複雑な気持ち。

✅ カワセミとカワラバト：水辺の癒やし

  • かっこいい髪型のカワセミオスが再登場。

  • カワラバトが浅瀬でもふもふ水浴びする様子にも癒やされました。

✅ Tf8（生後28日目）：下流への新たな寝床へ

  • 最近少しずつ下流へ進出。

  • お昼寝のために上陸する姿を観察。

  • 8羽のはずがこの時は7羽までしか確認できませんでした。

✅ Df捨4（生後48日目）：無事を確認

  • 最後にDf捨4も全員無事でいるのを確認できました。

💭 観察者の想い

今日は幼いヒナ中心で、段差を頑張って乗り越える姿に成長を感じました。
母カモに置き去りにされてしまう時間や、母同士の複雑な行動も含めて、自然界の厳しさや豊かさを実感。

後半は大きな家族たちが姿を見せず、幼いヒナたちをじっくり観察。
Gf7と並ぶとサイズの違いが一目瞭然で、成長の早さにも感心しました。
