Amid the heat of summer, life along the water quietly pulsed with small dramas, scattered joys, and subtle signs of change.
🐤 The Struggles and Games of Growing Ducklings
Early in the day, the familiar Kif3 family was seen with one duckling missing. While it may have just slipped into the nearby brush, the absence remained unconfirmed. The remaining ducklings, however, were full of energy—diving beneath the surface to snag fallen leaves, only to wrestle over them in a charming game of tug-of-war.
🐢 A Turtle and an Odd-Looking Carp
A turtle with an unusual shell coloration caught attention, followed by a truly strange sight: a red koi carp with a prominent swelling on its head. As the camera focused on the carp, it became clear a duck family was nearby—initially mistaken for Kaf1. Upon closer inspection, the mother duck's feathers and face did not match. Further observations confirmed this was a newly observed family: Saf1, with a duckling about 25 days old.
🆕 A New Duck Family—Saf1 Appears
Saf1's sudden appearance led to confusion with other known families, such as Kaf1 or Uf1. But distinctive features and behavior helped confirm its uniqueness. Attempts to locate other missing families—Of, Cf, Uf, Zf—proved unsuccessful despite walking to the farthest downstream area. It seems increasingly likely that some groups may not have survived.
🔄 A Surprise Reunion with Kaf1
Later, Kaf1 was finally spotted upstream. This solved the mystery: earlier observations assumed Saf1 was Kaf1, but in reality, both were seen on the same day in different places. The resemblance in age and behavior had caused the mix-up, but it turned into a surprising double encounter.
🦆 Territorial Confusion and Duck Drama
A brief scuffle between If4 and an approaching duck caused chaos. Mistaken identity led to a mother duck accidentally charging her own duckling, followed by a rapid retreat of an intruding duck—interrupted by the arrival of the powerful Of2. Eventually, the confusion cleared and order was restored.

The Tf8 family was seen resting along the bank, and one duckling was observed preening its developing "brush-tip" feathers—a delicate, rarely captured behavior that marks a milestone in their growth.

As the sun bore down, Kif3 was spotted again—now back in the nesting zone, still with three ducklings. The long walk and lack of shade took a toll, and the observation had to be cut short. Despite limited footage, the appearance of Saf1 and interactions with various animals made it a memorable day.

🐤 ヒナたちの遊びと消えた1羽
朝、キf3ファミリーを確認したところ、ヒナが1羽減っていました。草むらに隠れた可能性もありますが、未確認のまま。残ったヒナたちは元気いっぱいで、水中に潜って落ち葉を拾い、それを兄弟で取り合う姿が微笑ましくも印象的でした。
🐢 亀と奇妙なコイ
甲羅に違和感のあるクサガメに続き、額が膨らんだ赤いコイが現れました。最初はカf1親子かと思いましたが、よく見ると見知らぬ母カモ。羽や顔の特徴から、なんと新しい家族「サf1」と判明しました。ヒナの成長具合からも、これは間違いなく初登場のファミリーです。
🆕 新組「サf1」の登場
混乱を招いたのはその見慣れぬ姿。候補に挙がった他の家族とは羽やヒナの大きさが異なり、新ファミリーとして登録されました。すぐに行方不明の各ファミリーを探し下流まで探索しましたが、結局見つからず。全滅の可能性も否定できず、静かな喪失感が残ります。
🔄 カf1との再会と誤認騒動
その後、上流で本物のカf1を発見！なんとサf1とカf1、両方を同日に見ていたことが分かりました。ヒナの成長具合からも、推測はかなり正確だったようです。
🦆 侵入者による混乱
対岸では、イf4の元に別のカモが接近し混乱。その中で母カモが自分のヒナに突撃してしまうアクシデントも発生。そこへたくましく育ったOf2が登場し、他のカモを追い払う場面も見られました。
😴 お昼寝と羽のお手入れ
Tf8ファミリーは上陸してお昼寝タイム。ヒナが筆毛をほぐす姿も観察できました。羽の先が筆のように開いてくる、貴重な成長の証が記録されました。
☀️ 再会と暑さに負けた観察者
最終的に、キf3親子を再び確認。ヒナ3羽が健在でしたが、この時点で筆者はすでに熱中症寸前。わずかな映像しか撮れなかったことが悔やまれますが、無理せず撤収したのは正解だったかもしれません。
