1. Title & Quick Recap
EN: “Left Behind Again: A Brave Lone Duckling and the Day Two Families Got Totally Mixed Up”
2. What Happened Today?
EN:
June 22 brought drama to the pond: one duckling (code Vf1-10, ten days old) kept roaming alone because Mom never returned. Meanwhile, downstream, two different families (Df5-36 and Gf7-38) napped side-by-side—then accidentally swapped kids! Add in blazing heat, a curious kingfisher, and crowds of hungry crows, and you’ve got a wildlife soap opera.
JP:
3. Morning Highlights
Time | EN (What I Saw) | JP(観察メモ) |
---|---|---|
03:01 | A stranger climbed the fence and waded into the pond—third time since Vf1 hatched! |
03:23 | Vf1-10 is alive! Still no mother, still no calling—just endless paddling. | Vf1-10 |
04:36 | Moorhen family (33 days old) popped out for breakfast. | |
4. Heat, Hiding, and Predator Patrol
EN:
By midday the temperature soared, so every family searched for shade: under bridges, deep in bushes, even behind concrete pilings. I watched Sf9-16 hiss at an approaching crow—good job, Mom! A kingfisher dove repeatedly, then perched bolt-upright to cool off in the sun.
JP:
5. Afternoon Chaos: The Great Kid-Swap
EN:
Downstream, Df5-36 and Gf7-38 dozed so close their ducklings started mingling. At 46:56 two Df babies sneaked into Gf’s lineup—suddenly Gf had nine kids! Minutes later, the groups split 6 + 3, then 7 + 5, then back to normal. Moms tried to sort it out but honestly looked clueless; the ducklings themselves did most of the correcting, pecking the “wrong” siblings until everyone shuffled home.
JP:

7. Thoughts & Next Steps
EN:
-
Hope: Vf1 has already beaten the odds by surviving ten days alone. Maybe Mom will come back; maybe the duckling will learn to make this pond home.
-
Worry: Two of the seven pond families are still missing, and heat stress plus human disturbance isn’t helping.
-
Curiosity: Why are Df and Gf glued together lately? Is it pure coincidence or strategic safety in numbers?
I’ll keep filming daily and update the Duck Family Code list (link below) so everyone can follow along.
JP:
-
