Today's adventure brought surprises at every turn.

We saw ducklings learning to "float" and even almost fly for the first time. We discovered a family whose duckling count miraculously increased thanks to a lost chick rejoining them. And, most dramatically, we witnessed a mother and duckling performing a coordinated attack to defend their spot—a truly rare display of family teamwork.

Nature rarely sticks to the script. This day was a perfect reminder that even the familiar river holds new stories, surprises, and lessons about adaptation and survival.

Ef6 (43 Days Old): Tough Climbers

Seen resting in shady spots, then impressively climbing up the weir despite the intimidating size of the nearby carp.

Xf5 (20 Days Old): Energetic and Strategic

These ducklings were lively, resisting nap time, then suddenly appeared from downstream.

⭐ Coordinated Attack!
One duckling began chasing a resting stranger duck. Then—surprise!—mom joined in from behind. Watching them team up in a two-pronged charge was an amazing glimpse of family defense in action.

Ef6 Ducklings Increase Again (6 Days Old): The Mystery Continues

Near Gf7, we spotted tiny ducklings without their mother at first. Count: six!

⭐ The Lost Chick Rejoins?
Yesterday’s wandering duckling seems to have successfully joined the Ef6 family. The mother eventually returned and gathered them all together.

This slow, day-by-day increase is still a mystery, but also a relief to see them safe.

Sf9 (23 Days Old): Classic Nap Time

Comfortably resting in their usual upstream spot. A few ducklings showed distinctive yellowish bills—adding to their character.

Gf7 (46 Days Old): Synchronized Napping

Snuggled together in dappled light, showing their strong family bonds.

Af13 (52 Days Old): First Floating Flight!

The big family gathered in the nursery area.

⭐ They Floated!
One duckling clearly "lifted" off the water—almost flying. An unforgettable moment of progress.

The whole group moving as one after rest showed how much more cohesive they've become.

Cf3 (49 Days Old): Interaction with Af13

Spotted nearby, Cf3 walked right past Af13, triggering a chain reaction where Af13's ducklings followed.

Tf8 (24 Days Old): Nap Escape Artists

Tried to nap, but the ducklings had other ideas—escaping, exploring, then practicing their rapid downstream travel.

Extra Highlights

  • Kingfisher and pigeon in the same frame—my favorite collaboration shot!

  • Multiple kingfisher sightings, including eating a shrimp and showing off striking hairstyles.

  • Moorhen family still feeding older chicks.

  • Dragonflies fighting over territory at the pond.

  • A few familiar families (Bf捨1, Uf1, Pf2) weren't found, a reminder that not everyone is easy to spot in summer heat.

💭 Final Thoughts

The day felt like watching wildlife lessons in real time: lost ducklings finding family, parents defending territory, ducklings gaining flight skills.

It was a day of miracles, teamwork, and progress—and proof that no two days observing ducks are ever the same.

今日は「予想外」がたくさん詰まった一日でした。

ヒナがついに「浮く」ようになった感動の瞬間。
昨日の迷子が家族に合流して奇跡的にヒナが増えた親子。
そして、何よりXf5親子が見せたまさかの連携攻撃。

自然界は人間の想像を超える物語を日々生み出していることを、改めて実感させてくれた観察日になりました。

🦆 親子ごとのまとめ

Ef6（生後43日目）：堰を登るたくましさ

暑い中、Df5と一緒に日陰で避暑。
その後、巨大な鯉がいる堰を見事に登ってみせました。

Xf5（生後20日目）：元気いっぱい＆まさかの連携攻撃

寝床を嫌がり元気いっぱいに動き回るヒナたち。

⭐ まさかの親子連携攻撃！
1羽が寝ていた他のカモを威嚇し始めたと思ったら、母ガモも後方から合流して一緒に突撃。
普段は穏やかなカルガモの、家族を守る勇敢な一面に感動しました。

エf6（生後6日目）：増えたヒナたち

Gf7近くで母不在のヒナを発見。
なんと6羽に増加！

⭐ 昨日の迷子が合流した可能性大
母ガモが戻ってきて無事家族に。
日に日に増える不思議現象だけど、ヒナが無事で嬉しいです。

Sf9（生後23日目）：お昼寝の定位置

いつもの上流の寝床でみんなでお昼寝。
嘴が黄色っぽい子など個性が見えます。

Gf7（生後46日目）：仲良しお昼寝

木漏れ日の中でヒナたちが並んでお昼寝。
家族の絆を感じました。

Af13（生後52日目）：感動の「浮く」瞬間

子育てエリアで大家族が集合。

⭐ ついに「浮いた」！
ヒナが水面から浮き上がるような動きを見せて、まるで飛びそうな瞬間を撮影できました。
その後、みんなでまとまって移動する姿も圧巻。

Cf3（生後49日目）：Af13との面白いやり取り

近くでお昼寝していたCf3が起きてAf13の前を横切り、
それをきっかけにAf13のヒナたちが連鎖的に動き出す面白いシーンが。

Tf8（生後24日目）：寝ようとして脱走！

母が寝ようとすると、ヒナが脱走。
でも、流れの早い川をスイスイ下ってお気に入りの寝床へ。

その他の発見

  • カワセミとキジバトが同じ画面に収まる奇跡のコラボ

  • カワセミがエビを捕食したり、かっこいい「髪型」を披露

  • バン親子も41日目でまだ給餌中

  • 池のチョウトンボが激しい縄張り争い

  • Bf捨1やUf1など見つけられなかった組も多く、夏の隠れ上手さを実感

今日の観察は「家族の絆」と「小さな奇跡」にあふれていました。

迷子が加わって家族が増える奇跡、親子で連携して敵を追い払う勇気、ヒナがついに「浮く」瞬間…。

何度も感動し、自然の奥深さを改めて感じる一日でした。
