Explanation of Date and Family Codes

📅 Date Code (e.g., 0718F) The date code indicates the filming date in the format MMDD + YearLetter. MM = Month (01–12) DD = Day (01–31) The final letter represents the filming year, starting from 2020: A or no letter = 2020 B = 2021, C = 2022, ..., F = 2025, etc. For example, 0718F means July 18, 2025 (F = 2025). 🦆 Duck Family Code (e.g., Gf7-65) Each duck family is given a code to help track their story over time. First letter: Identifies the mother duck (A–Z) Second letter (a–z): Indicates the year the family was observed, matching the date code (e.g., f = 2025) Number before hyphen: Number of ducklings Number after hyphen: Approximate age of the ducklings in days at the time of recording Example: Gf7-65 = Mother G, 2025 family, 7 ducklings, observed at day 65 These codes are used consistently across blog entries and videos to keep observations organized, searchable, and year-synchronized.
